Turtle Walker is a critically acclaimed documentary that illuminates the extraordinary life of Satish Bhaskar, famously known as India’s “Sea Turtle Man.” During the late 1970s, Bhaskar set out to walk the entire coast of the country, marooning himself on islands, covering thousands of kilometres on foot. His meticulous documentation of sea turtle nesting sites laid the foundation for their protection across India. After a devastating tsunami struck in 2004, Bhaskar grappled with a pressing question: What happens to sea turtles when their nesting beaches disappear?

Directed & Produced by Taira Malaney, Executive Produced by James Reed (My Octopus Teacher) and co-produced by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti’s Tiger Baby as well as Oscar-nominated HHMI Tangled Bank Studios, Turtle Walker premiered at DOC NYC and has screened at over 70 international film festivals, winning multiple awards.
